My dog is vomiting blood like coffee grounds and not eating. Why?

That is extremely concerning. Coffee ground colored vomit or stool could indicate a bleed in the GI tract or stomach. If Lucy has been vomiting like this for several days, it is best to seek out care from your vet or an emergency clinic right away.

I would be worried too, as having blood in the vomit can have very serious causes including GI ulcers, eating something toxic, GI tumors, bacterial or viral infection, a foreign body, or clotting disorders among others. I would have Coki seen by a vet right away for a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays. Once the cause of the vomiting and blood is diagnosed, the vet can start treatment.

Cindy could have an infection, parasite, gastritis from something she ate, pancreatitis, ulcer, metabolic/endocrine disease. You could withhold food for the day and then try a bland diet, like chicken and white rice and see if that helps. If the vomiting continues or she becomes lethargic than she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can run lab-work and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat her problem. Hope she feels better soon.

I hate to hear Jedi is sick. Vomiting blood is always concerning and any pet who is vomiting blood needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. Vomiting blood could be due to severe vomiting, a stomach ulcer, cancer, poisoning or a foreign object in the stomach. If Honey is vomiting, especially vomiting blood, she needs to go to the veterinarian. This could indicate a toxicity such as rat poison, a hereditary coagulation disorder given her age and she's bleeding inside, or even if she got into something like an anti-inflammatory and bleeding stomach ulcer. It could also indicate G.I. parasites causing digested blood in her GI tract. However anytime we see blood in the vomit and dark tarry stool's we become very concerned about life-threatening anemia. Do not give Honey any human medication including anything like Pepcid, Pepto-Bismol, or Zantac until she is examined by a veterinarian.
