Dog vomited blood after milk. Is it lactose intolerance or serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 11 days old | 6.61 lbs

My dog drank her milk then suddenly she vomits it with blood once early this morning. Then she poop, but it is firm. Now shes eating well, I also mix water with sugar for her. Also, shes in heat since thursday afternoon. Shes acting normal aftet she vomit. What it could be?

Some dogs are lactose intolerant and dairy products can cause gas, vomiting, and/or diarrhea. It may be that the milk caused some inflammation in her stomach and intestines causing her to vomit. You should not give her anymore milk and just feed her a high quality dog food and fresh water. If she starts vomiting again than she should be examined by a vet for treatment.

The milk could have caused Mira to vomit. It's never recommended to feed a dog diary products because they cause GI upset. I would also not give her water with sugar. Sugar is not healthy for dogs, and will cause her to gain weight. Being obese will predispose her to health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, and joint problems. Mira only needs water to drink. I would refrain from giving her anymore milk or sugar water, and monitor her for now because she is eating and acting normal. If she does vomit again, especially if she vomits blood, then she needs to see a vet immediately.

Lacey needs to be seen by veterinarian immediately. This could indicate a severe case of colitis or gastritis, a severe infection, a foreign body, internal bleeding or even something as serious as parvovirus. Dogs can get very dehydrated from this and have secondary issues with her kidneys and liver. Do not give her anything to eat or medication until she is seen by a veterinarian.

I am sorry to hear about your pup! In a puppy this young with these symptoms we do worry about things like intestinal parasites and parvo virus, which are not caused by milk. I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian to check for these issues. Cindy could have an infection, parasite, gastritis from something she ate, pancreatitis, ulcer, metabolic/endocrine disease. You could withhold food for the day and then try a bland diet, like chicken and white rice and see if that helps. If the vomiting continues or she becomes lethargic than she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can run lab-work and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat her problem. Hope she feels better soon.

Poor Lady! Eating tissue paper should not normally cause any significant issues unless she ate a very large amount, so this is probably not related. Vomiting blood is always a very serious concern, so I would recommend taking Lady to the vet right away for an exam. She may have internal bleeding due to a stomach ulcer or foreign body, a GI illness such as pancreatitis or HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis), or may have gotten into something toxic. Your vet can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment right away.

The GI upset could be due to many conditions including eating something she shouldn't have, bacterial over growth, parasites (worms and giardia), poison, a bleeding disorder, pancreatitis, cancer or intestinal blockage. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. Try to remember to take in a stool sample. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth and other diagnostics may be recommended as well. She needs the correct diagnosis in order to receive appropriate care.
