Do dog vaccines & Cytopoint on same day cause immune system attacks?

I do not think you have to worry as it is an immunological product, ie works similar to a vaccination. Sometimes veterinarians will adjust a dosage individually according to the response of the dog's immune system. I suggest you give your vet a call and just ask him. I am sure he can and will explain.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Adverse immune reactions, including IMHA, can be caused as a result of any vaccination (rabies tend to cause reactions more often than other vaccines though), it's generally not common but it is a possibility. it's not possible to prove it and it's also possible that it was a coincidence.

Vaccines are generally well tolerated by dogs and vaccine reaction rates are very low. If he has had the vaccine before without any issue, then it is unlikely that he will have a problem this time around (but it is not impossible). Definitely titer testing will tell you if the vaccine is needed and is a good idea if vaccine reactions have occurred in the past or if it makes you uncomfortable. In the US, most adult dogs will get the DHPP vaccine every 3 years once they finish the puppy series. Lasltly, some dogs will get an injection of diphenhydramine 15 minutes prior to a vaccine to decrease the potential for a reaction. Vaccine reactions include vomiting, diarrhea, facial swelling, hives, collapse (anaphylactic reaction) and can triggger autoimmune conditions. The vast majority of vaccine reactions are the less serious form. If you pet has a history of any autoimmune condition, you should discuss if vaccinations are appropriate for him. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. The main reason the signs returned is that the allergic component needs to still be dealt with on top of giving the injection. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

Rabies is typically 100% fatal if a pet acquires it. So deciding to vaccinate also needs to consider Happy's risk factors for exposure. I hope this information helps!

If you have not tried the Cytopoint injection, I would give this a try. It is a fairly new treatment and it is an antibody that is being injected to block one of the factors that triggers the allergy cascade (that is the simplified version). Check out the cytopoint website and see for yourself and ask your vet about this. You may need to go see a veterinary dermatologist. The allergy shots you speak of are a hit or miss in my experience with most patients not responding very well unfortunately. Heska runs a allergy panel called Allercept and provide you with vaccines against the found allergens. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sundance is very handsome! I would recommend calling your Vet to discuss this, since they are the ones that treated him for IMHA. If Sundance is in remission that is good. IMHA is an immune condition that can be initiated by antibiotics, vaccines, tick infections, etc. If an underlying cause wasn't found when he was originally diagnosed we call the Idiopathic IMHA or Autoimmune. Personally I would be very hesitant to continue vaccinations in a dog with an immune mediated disease. I think it is best to discuss with your Vet They may have an automatic computer system for their reminders and don't know they are sending you reminders.
