My dog is uncomfortable after surgery, but incision looks fine. Is this normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Giant Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 85 lbs

My dog had surgery Thursday night and seems uncomfortable, like his incision is bothering him. Is this normal? The incision looks healthy, no swelling or excessive redness.

The incision looks great with no redness / inflammation evident in the picture. It sounds as though his pain is not well controlled. I would recommend contacting the veterinarian to ask for additional pain medications to help Leon out. I hope this helps!
