My dog has a tongue bump and is coughing blood. What's wrong?

Although a pic would help to determine the underlying nature of the lump, This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. I am sorry that she is having this problem and I am sure you are worried. Nasal discharge with blood can be a sign of infection, cancer, or possibly a bleeding disorder. If the antibiotics do no resolve the problem then your vet will need to do some diagnostic tests to help determine the cause. Your vet can run blood-work, take nasal x-rays, and/or rhinoscopy to see if a diagnosis can be found. I wish I could tell you the cause but am not able to without more information from tests. The bump on the roof of her mouth may not be related but you should monitor it and have your vet take a look at it. Try not to worry as it could definitely just be an infection.

Bleeding from the mouth could be a sign of dental disease or something more serious, like a tumor in the mouth. The lump under the neck could be a lymph node, abscess or tumor. Dogs will often lick their paws secondary to allergies or arthritis pain. It definitely sounds like you should make an appointment with your vet to have Beef examined and to discuss all of your concerns.

This can be caused by an infection, which may have resulted from a small cut. While Kona is pretty young, it is possible that the bump is a small tumor, and it can be removed to determine if it is benign (not harmful) or malignant (likely to spread). It is concerning that the bump has gotten bigger over time, so I recommend having her seen by a vet. You can get her an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her from scratching or rubbing the area. She could have a respiratory tract infection, allergies, collapsing trachea, heart disease or a variety of other issues causing the cough. As for the bump, a procedure known as a fine needle aspirate is typically performed. The veterinarian will use a small needle to collect a sample of cells from the bump to evaluate under the microscope. This helps to determine if any treatment is needed. I'm not sure when you last discussed having it removed with her vet, but given that it has grown more and is bleeding, I think you should discuss removing it again. Due to her age, there is a chance this lump could be cancer, but it needs to biopsied first before any determination could be made as to whether or not it's cancer. This is a very real concern and you should have him assessed by a vet urgently. Infection, injury, heart and lung disease, parasites, clotting issues and foreign bodies could all be at play. A full physical and possibly chest xrays are recommended immediately
