If my dog has tetanus, can it spread to other dogs or even humans?

If you do not see any evidence of a wound, it is not likely that we was injured by the cutting board. While tetanus is commonly associated with rusty objects, it is not rust objects that harbor the tetanus bacteria. Rusty objects can often be found in dirt and in areas that tend to harbor bacteria, which is why it is commonly said rusty objects cause tetanus. Just because it is rusty does not mean it will cause tetanus. If Casper was not wounded, I would not be too worried about the risk of him getting tetanus. Dogs do not typically get tetanus vaccinations. It is very rare for a dog to contract tetanus. If the wound is looking good, continue treating as you have been. If after 10 days of treatment it is not fully healed then oral antibiotics may be needed.

Dogs and cats are naturally resistant to the effects of tetanus, so in localized cases, the survival rates can be very good. However, in severe/generalized cases, chances of survival can be less than 50%. Each case is different though, so if Gunner happens to have tetanus, then your veterinarian will be able to give more specific information about his chances of survival. No it can’t be transferred to dogs, nor to humans. It is an immune disorder in which the dog’s immune system recognises the dig’s own muscles tissue as foreign and attacks it. Some dogs may be genetically predisposed to immune-mediated diseases and this disease gets triggered by something. Most of the time the trigger is not found. The dog you sent the pictures too had wasted quite of his masticatori muscles, is he still able to eat ? Is he comfortable ? Agressive treatment with steroids help things settle and should make him feel more comfortable. I am not sure if he is on any other medications hence I have suggested to see your vet.

A dog must be infected with rabies to give it to someone. If Tyson has been vaccinated against rabies, then he will not spread the disease. Any dog, even if they have been with you since birth, can get rabies. If an animal with rabies bites Tyson, he can be infected and spread it to you. Poor doggy. No mycoplasma is not contagious to other pets or people. Mycoplasma is transmitted through a flea bite and pets can be affected. This is not considered to be a zoonotic (contagious to people) disease although there was 1 reported case of a person getting infected after being scratched by a cat. But in general no it isn't easily transmissible to people. So essentially a flea that is infected will infect any other pets that are not protected by a monthly flea preventative. I did some research for you and it is very uncommon for rabbits to get tetanus but not 100% impossible. Tetanus usually results in rigidity of limbs. I know this might not sound great but I would recommend taking one that recently passes away (not frozen) to your state vet lab for an autopsy. They can submit tissue sample to the lab to hopefully determine the exact cause. Also take one who is sick to the vet for blood work, possible x-rays or a fecal. Parasites can be passes between rabbits and can easily be fatal (like coccidia)
