My dog ate trash or dead animal, now her breath stinks. Home remedies?

It is common that dogs like to eat poo, and it's a disgusting thing that they do! When you have her out to potty, keep her on a leash, and move her away from a pile of poo as soon as you see her start trying to eat it. If she is running around without a leash, I would follow her, and the minute you see her trying to eat poo, make a loud noise by clapping your hands together, tell her no, and distract her by playing with her. As for remedies for bad breath in dogs, one cause of it is eating the poo, so if you stop her from doing that, it will help her breath. I would recommend getting her some Greenie or Denta Chews which will help with her teeth and breath.

Dogs with bad breath usually have terrible teeth...ie their teeth are full of tartar which harbors gas producing bacteria and that stinks. These bacteria also cause severe gingivitis (inflamed gums) which allows the bacteria to enter the blood stream and eventually cause heart and kidney problems. Another reason for bad breath could be a tooth root abscess, a wound in the oral cavity and renal failure. Please take Voodoo to a veterinarian for an exam to find the cause of the bad breath. Treatment can then be initiated, ie a dental cleaning, antibiotics to kill those bacteria and/or early detection of renal failure.

It's not uncommon in dogs, if his teeth looks dirty and full of tartar he probably needs a scale and polish dental treatment at the vets, if the teeth look very clean then it probably comes from the stomach and is usually related to the food he eats.

At his age, the bad breath could be an abscess or the normal shedding of his puppy teeth. Take a good look inside his mouth to check for any abnormalities. At this age she most likely has bad breath due to Halle ptosis which is an accumulation of bacteria on the back of her tongue or the beginning stages of dental disease. You want to tackle this by brushing her teeth every day with a pet formulated toothpaste and toothbrush which you can find at your local pet store. You can also do oral rinses with a pet formulated rents also located at your pet store.
