My dog's spay incision is wet and bleeding a week later. Is it normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 34 lbs

My 4 year old female dog was spayed almost a week ago, since the surgery. . There seems to be the smallest little spot that is letting out what looks to be a small amount of blood and wetness, no real color other than the blood color. I will of course bring her to her vet but would like to avoid it if possible. . If u could give any advice on this I'd very much appreciate it. Thank you

I think it looks just fine actually. Probably a little local reaction to the underlying stitches. I suggest spraying it with this spray once a day for a week. It should be just fine!

Hope this helps. Best wishes.
