What are these small white bumps on my dog's lips? Are they dangerous?

Most dogs get it from doggie day care or other close interactions with other dogs. Usually they spontaneously regress. Sometimes I'll crush them in the office and put the dog on a 10 day course of Azithrimycin.

Hi, thanks for using Petcoach! Thanks for the picture, it really helps in this case! Those bumps in his mouth are viral papillomas. They are very contagious from dog to dog. They take 1-2 months to incubate so I do not think they are from yesterdays play session. I would warn that dog's owner that their dog may get them. They are benign and will go away on their own. When I see a dog with them on appointment I crush a few of them to make them bleed and place the dog on azithromycin for 10 days. That tends to stimulate the dogs immune system quicker to help fight the viral infection. Blue should not play with other dogs until all the lesions are gone. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Am is very cute! It's hard to say 100% from the pictures. The 2 possibilities are viral Papilloma, which is contagious and likes to be on the face but more so the mouth. Dogs get it from playing with other dogs at the park or from Doggie Daycare. Papillomas are white to grey and look warty. They tend to resolve with time. The other possibility is a benign histiocytoma. They are growths that appear on young dogs that spontaneously go away with in a few months. They tend to be pink and hairless, like a button. I hope this helps! These could be canine oral papillomas, which are small benign tumors of the mouth causing by the papilloma virus. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain, so I would have them checked out by a vet. If they are canine oral papillomas, treatment is usually not needed unless they become infected or she develops a lot of growths. I hope this helps!

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the pictures you have provided and knowing that Ace is a young dog, I would suspect the bumps to be papillomas. These are benign masses of the skin that are caused by the papilloma virus. Most of the time these bumps resolve on their own with no secondary complications. Other times, these bumps need to be treated because they are bothering the dog. If Ace is not bothered by these bumps, I would monitor them for now and if they become much larger in size or begin to bother him, I would get him examined by a veterinarian. As these are viral, there is no one great treatment for resolving these. There has been research on an antibiotic called Azithromycin and its efficacy in treating papillomas. I have used Azithromycin before for treating this with mixed results. These bumps could also be acne or infected hair follicles that are inflamed (a condition called folliculitis). I hope this helps! This is Papillomavirus. This is more common in young dogs and the majority of the time you just have to let the virus work itself out of the system. If they start getting really bad we can try to treat. I wouldn't be too concerned about your older dogs especially if you were just playing with the puppy. Hi. These growths look like papillomas or warts. Typically, these are caused by a virus that he may have contracted by coming in contact with another dog's saliva that had the contagious virus. This may have been through a shared food or water bowl, toy, or through playing. This virus usually runs it course and the warts fall off, but it can take weeks. Sometimes, your vet may have to surgically remove them. Your dog is contagious as long as the warts are present.
