My dog has a skin wound, is lethargic, and won't eat. What's wrong?

I would have Brownie examined by a vet. There looks like signs of infection, and it needs to be treated aggressively. Wounds in this area are often hard to heal since there is constant movement from the joint. There could also be something under the skin or a problem with bone causing delayed healing.

Poor Lea! She could allergies and a secondary bacterial infection. Since she is so itchy, lethargic, and not wanting to eat or drink, she really should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. I think she is going to need some prescription medications to treat. She might need an anti-histamine, corticosteroid, and/or an antibiotic to help. I hope she feels better soon!

It sounds like her cut may have become infected and is causing more problems. Try to keep the wound as clean as possible for now and plan on taking her to the vet as soon as you can. Sometimes skin infections can be quite painful and cause enough discomfort to cause them to stop eating and to become lethargic. I'm sorry Sally is not feeling well! The large blister definitely looks like it can be caused by an inset bite and is painful, but it is also concerning that she is lethargic. I recommend having her looked at by a vet as soon as possible, in case there is systemic toxicity from the bite.

That appears deep enough and long enough it will require stitches to heal quicker and antibiotics so it will not get infected since the source is unknown. It is best to have it evaluated this evening if possible, but if not, then keep Neosporin on it and discourage her from scratching it and visit a vet in the morning.

Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. He could have an infected tooth/teeth and need extractions and a dental cleaning as soon as possible. Infected gums and teeth can introduce bacteria into the bloodstream that can adversely affect your dog's heart. This problem needs to be addressed now.
