My rescued dog's skin smells like corn chips. What can I do?

While the baths do help, I am afraid that is a skin infection at this point, likely yeast and bacterial. Generally you will need to see a vet for a sample for the correct medication. It sounds like she has a lot of seborrhea which is oil. This could be due to an infection like yeast or bacteria on her skin but it could also be due to allergies. I like dechra's dermabenss shampoo. It really cuts the oil and has a pleasant smell. Be sure to leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes before rinsing. I would bathe her at least twice a week. If there are any crusts, ulcerations, black "elephant" skin then she will likely need to see your vet in order to be completely resolved as there is likely an infection involved as well. I would probably have Sissy checked out by your vet. A chlorhexidine shampoo will help with superficial bacterial skin infections, but this may not be the cause of the crusting. It could also be caused by a fungal infection, deep bacterial infection, endocrine disease such as Cushing’s or hypothyroidism, mites, allergies, etc. The yeasty smell is often associated with allergic skin disease. You can give him a bath in a medicated shampoo that can help. If there are sores then you can apply neosporin to them. The odor may be from a secodnary yeast infection. At her age I would have yiurbvrt check her thyroid ton make sure it is not low as it can predispose them to more skin infections. From there they can prescribe medicine to treat her
