My dog has a skin rash all over. How can I treat it affordably?

We call this superficial pyoderma. For these, I recommend topical therapy and skin supplementation. If after 10-14 days there is no improvement with this approach, I recommend visiting the veterinarian and having the vet take a look at Po so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would clip the fur from this so that you have better access for treatment and try a topical approach first and see if this helps. I would also recommend applying Vetericyn ointment to the area, which can be purchased online. He is missing fur in places, and parts of his skin look pretty red, likely from licking. I'm wondering if he does have a yeast infection or something else like mites, fleas, or allergies. This is something that has to be seen by a vet immediately, it is bad looking and cannot be treated at home. It also needs to be diagnosed by a vet so it can be treated correctly. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. It’s difficult to say what it is from just the picture. Since you aren’t able to take him to the vet, you could try to rotate lamisil cream and neosporin. Put each on twice a day but separate by at least an hour. Also, don’t let him lick that area. You can put a cone collar collar on him to help prevent this. You can also start him on some Benadryl. See link below for dosing. If it still isn’t improving then you will want to try to find a way to see the vet since he may need oral antibiotics or an oral anti-fungal to help him heal. Poor girl. I am not sure of her age, but mange is common in younger pets and puppies. This does look potentially like mange with a secondary bacterial infection, but it could just be a primary bacterial infection with no underlying mange as the cause. I would have the skin scraped by your vet to at least come up with a valid diagnosis here. Also since there are 2 different types of mites, its important to get her tested to determine which is likely present or if none are found, her bacterial infection alone should be treated for. I am sorry that your vet bills are getting expensive, but this needs to be seen by your vet first to ensure we are on the right track here with treatment. Allergies can be very frustrating and unfortunately also expensive to treat, especially since there is generally no cure for allergies and animals will need to have treatment throughout their lives. I would guess that Meeka might have environmental allergies in addition to her food allergies unless she has been exposed to something she is allergic to like a new food or treat recently. Vitamin E oil is unlikely to help. You could consider seeing a dermatologist - while this might be more expensive short term it could be less expensive in the long run if the dermatologist can help pinpoint the allergy and prescribe medications or even immunotherapy (allergy injections) to try to eliminate the allergy. Hello. While I cannot diagnose your pet, it does appear that we have a case of bacterial seborrhea here. There may be an undiagnosed underlying cause, such as hypothyroidism or he has developed an allergic response/sensitivity to something, so I would make an appointment to see your vet as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can bathe your pet in a medicated antibacterial shampoo if you can find one. One that contains chlorhexidine ( 2-4% ) or benzoyl peroxide should work well. You can bathe your pet 2-3 times a week. I would also start an Omega-3 fatty acid supplement such as Bayer's Freeform snip tips.
