Why is my dog shaking, panting excessively, and whining in pain?

Yes, please take her in right away. This sounds like she is in a lot of pain. Dogs pant a lot and tremble when they are in pain. Since she’s not spayed she could have a uterine infection that can become life threatening, or many small dogs get intervertebral disc disease which can cause the symptoms you are seeing. They will need to do an exam and possibly lab tests or X-rays to get a diagnosis, then they can give pain medication and the appropriate treatment. This is very painful and can cause shaking, panting and a reluctance to jump. Her veterinarian can detect this on her exam or another problem if that may be the case. In the meantime, keep her quiet. Whining is an attention seeking behavior and can be a sign of anxiety, pain or potentially boredom. The shaking can also be a sign of pain or anxiety. If you think he might be in pain you should see a veterinarian to see if they can localize the pain to a specific area. If you think he may be anxious it could help to try to identify what might be triggering the anxiety - some dogs have storm or noise phobias, or he might be anxious about a change in routine or environment.

I'm so sorry to hear that Dayzee is not feeling well. The most common reason that we will see a young dog that is shaking and whining in pain are either neck or back pain or abdominal pain. The cold and dry nose does not normally help us determine what is going on with her. The only way to determine what might be wrong is to have your veterinarian do an examination on her to see if they can find anything that is painful. Since she can't talk and tell you why this is happening, I recommend to have her examined quickly by the veterinarian. It's possible she is in a lot of pain and that's why she is acting this way. Poor Zeke! I'm so sorry he's having a hard time. It sounds like he has some back and/or neck pain. The biggest concern I would have as to what may be causing his pain would be intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), where the shock absorbing discs between the back bones bulges and causes compression on the spinal cord. This causes great pain and if the problem progresses, can potentially lead to paralysis. It could also be a muscle injury, an infection along his spine (diskospondylitis) , or even a tumor causing pain. Please avoid giving him pain mediation at home, as this will limit the safe options your vet has for pain when you take him to the vet. Additionally, if your vet finds that steroids are indicated, it could set up a problem if he's received aspirin or any other OTC pain med or anti-inflammatory at home. Keep him in a confined space, and take him to your vet tomorrow, or better yet seek emergency care tonight if its available; so that he can start getting some pain relief. Poor Puppy. She could have pain in stomach, back, hips, or neck. She sounds pretty painful, and unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give her. Many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I'd take her into a vet today.
