Why is my dog still shaking his head after ear mite treatment?

The reason Fatboy is shaking his head is likely a combination of both the drops and the discomfort associated with the infection. If after six days of effective treatment, you are not seeing any improvement at all, you might want to call you vet and let him know. He may want to obtain a new sample to see if any progress is being made. If not, a true culture could be sent out to better target his therapy and change medications if needed be.

If Bruno is scratching his ears and shaking his head it does not point to flea infestation but rather an ear infection with either mites, bacteria or a fungus. You will need to take Bruno to your veterinarian for an ear exam and then treatment for the cause of the itch and shake. Treatment will depend on the cause (acaricide for mites, antibiotic for bacterial infection, fungicide for fungal infection )

It sounds like Renz may have an ear infection, and he does need to see a vet for it. Ear infections in dogs can be caused by ear mites, yeast, or bacteria, and the cause needs to be diagnosed so he can be treated. As for the scratching, that can be caused by fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. If he isn't up to date on his flea treatment, he will need a spot on treatment such as Advantage or Revolution. You will need to disinfect the environment as well. Renz should see a vet today and tomorrow for his ear problems, and possibly the scratching. If he is up to date on his flea treatments, the vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the itching is found, the vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment.

I would be more concerned that Myna has an ear infection not just ear mites. Ear mites are not that common in dogs, although can happen. I recommend taking Myna to a veterinarian and letting them check her ears to see if there is an infection. If they are concerned about ear mites they can check under the microscope for them. Poor Kodiak! It's possible that Kodiak could have an ear infection of the external, middle or inner ear, but other conditions such as neurologic problems (like focal seizures) or a brain tumor are also possible. The only way to get to the bottom of this issue is with a thorough physical exam and some diagnostic testing. Since it sounds as though he's uncomfortable and bothered by this issue, it would be best to have him checked out by his vet sooner rather than later. I hope that all goes well!
