My dog has scratches on his privates after wrestling. Is it serious?

Poor Tommy! It could be from an injury. I would gently clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it.

If the wound is superficial, I suggest gently cleansing the area with a diluted betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. Applying a warm washcloth 2-3 times a day for five minutes at a time may provide some relief from itching and discomfort. Afterwards, dry the area throughly. At least on this picture this looks very superficial and it is very likely that it will resolve on its own as long as the area is kept nice and clean. Generally, minor abrasions and wounds will heal on their own (just like humans). You may gently wash the lesion (rinse well) and inspect it to make sure it is not deep. If it is deep, if it gets worse or if it appears to bother Milo, he should be examined by the veterinarian. It should heal within two weeks. Ouch! Poor Dylan! This looks like a little local infection that he has been licking. I would place an e-collar I him to prevent licking. You can clean it with mild soap and water. And I would also put some neosporin on it twice a day. If it is not improving in the next day or two then I would definitely take him in to see your veterinarian for an exam. Your vet will be able to prescribe some oral anabiotics and some stronger topical medicine if needed. If at any point he is not eating or is lethargic then I would also take him to your vet.
