Why does my dog refuse to come home and drag his feet after walks?

Sounds like Louie is doing exactly what he is bred to do; sniff around and look for little critters to munch. If your pup has been a regularly obedient boy, getting him to resume his normal behavior should hopefully be no more complicated than rewarding him for the desirable behaviors. On your walks for the time being, make sure to carry treats with you that you can use. Also, use a clicker for training if you would like to maximize effectiveness. I am typically not a proponent of choke collars, but in some cases with large-necked breeds like Pitties, they do require. Definitely not staying to start there, but it might be something to consider down the line if his behaviors are getting worse. You also may want to give a try to the gentle leader. I don't think it would be associated with him pooping on the walk unless he seemed sore around his anus or straining to defecate. You probably need to crate him to leave him safely, but if you have time after the walk, engage in play with him so that he enjoys a little extra attention.

It sounds like Bear is developing some anxiety about walking for some reason. If you're pulling on his leash, correcting him, speaking to him in a frustrated way in any manner, stop all that immediately. It may also be nothing that you're doing and just genetics coming in to play. I recommend bringing really special treats on your walks and keeping him happy and relaxed with those. Plan on continuing this for a few weeks to a few months. If that doesn't work, I'd highly recommend speaking with a qualified positive-only dog trainer. As a final note, definitely do not use an electric collar on this pup under any circumstances, or you will see worsening of his behavior.

This is quite a normal behavior - she wants to be involved once you come home. Altering your routine to take her for a short walk immediately when you come home or giving her a food treat or chew toy to play with in the garden as soon as you arrive home may help to redirect her attention, you will have to continue with such routines as she will expect the new routine instead! First I would have Harry checked by your veterinarian for arthritis. Many dogs are painful even if they do not show it or appear lame. The increased exercise may be making him sore. If his joints are fine and he is comfortable try taking him for a short walk in the morning and offer treats to get him up and going for a walk in the evening. Rewarding him when he walks later in the day, especially if he's hungry, will make him look forward to those walks. Leo is old enough to be a teenager now and hormonal. Neutering him may help because intact males are more prone to roaming to look for mates. Although we can't be sure, this may be his reason to not want to come home. When you get up and walk him when he barks, you are rewarding his behavior and so he will keep doing it. Ignore him, correct him or distract him. Not allowing him to sleep all day and instead of walking, try something more vigorous like a game of fetch to tire him out. Sometimes they will choose who to walk with due to feeling safe but also due to dominance. He may feel you boyfriend is more of the alpha than you. I would start working with him on other tricks and teach him other behaviors as well. I would also consider taking him to a group training class just you and him this will help him bond with you and learn that you are also the “boss”. Also, there are trainers that will come to your house to work specifically for your situation. Finally, I would keep trying with the leash walk. You may try to go for a walk with you holding the leash and your boyfriend next to you. Overtime, have your boyfriend walk further away from y’all.
