My dog has red bumps and a rash on his leg. Is it ant bites?

Based on the photos and your description, I suspect what you are seeing may be due to insect bites such as ants. If this is just inflammation from insect bites and not an infection, it will likely clear up on its own. I would recommend using a product such as Malacetic Conditioning spray which can be found online quite easily or a steroid spray from PetCo and apply to the area twice daily until resolved. If pustules begin to form or the rash spreads / worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Bentley so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It looks like a possible lick granuloma which is from her licking. I would recommend an elizabethan collar and bringing her to a veterinarian so they can give medication to help her feel more comfortable while this heals. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I would have to see her in person in order to make a diagnosis, so I recommend you take her into the vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing her skin issue and can treat her. This is likely to resolve on its own as long as you prevent any further self-trauma (preventing her from licking at it for example). You can get an e-collar from your local pet store or simply just keep a very close eye on her to prevent further self-trauma. In most cases of mild infections, if this is done at home, they can resolve as long as you keep that area clean. If no improvement of worsening is noted in the next 3-4 days, then have her examined by your veterinarian. However, there is a good chance she can do well at home. She is adorable! Hello. Is it possible that Charlie was bitten by something like a tick? This just looks like an acute inflammatory reaction. If you have some hydrocortisone cream, I would just rub a bit into the skin several times a day. If you do not have any cream, then please visit your Petco who will have several brands, including Zymox which is a very good product. Hello, and thank you for your question. The photos look like raised bumps, making me think about insect bites. Other possibilities include bacterial infection or fungal infection. I would try gently bathing the area with a gentle aloe and oatmeal based shampoo. Alternatively you could try applying a bit of pure aloe vera gel to the spots to help relieve discomfort. If they are insect bites, they may improve with time. If the skin does not improve within the next 24 hours, I would suggest taking Simba to the vet. They can perform tests such as a skin scraping, skin cytology or fungal culture to help determine the cause of the lesions. At minimum, they can provide medications to reduce itching, and antibiotics if an infection is suspected. If Simba is licking or scratching the area, I would also put an e-collar (cone) on his head, and a t-shirt in his body, to prevent him from licking and scratching and causing further trauma to his skin.
