My dog has a pussing wound. What is this skin infection or abscess?

With that amount of discharge and that size hike I would worry about a cyst that ruptured or a wound from trauma (bite) that was trying to heal and can't because it is infected. It does need to be seen for medication or surgery if needed but not as an enegenxy. You can clean it with soap and water and keep neosporin on it until you can you get seen this week

It looks like an insect bite or a small puncture wound. I suggest using a damp warm washcloth and mild soap to clean the area, wipe away all the soap and dry it well. Keep an eye on it and if it does not improve significantly in the next day or so, get him in to see you vet.

It could also be another type of mass such as a tumor or a foreign body (such as a grass seed) that’s burrowed into the skin and caused an abscess. If the dog will let you, keep the area clean (you can use a baby wipe) and apply some Neosporin to it twice a day until the owner returns.
