Dog's post-surgery spot growing. Is it infection? Emergency vet?

This does look swollen and very angry. There is a possibility that there is infection in the wound. You should take Chip to your vet for a recheck on Monday. I do not think this is an emergency unless your dog runs a fever ( above 103 F) or there is a discharge from the wound.

This does look very moist and like an infection is starting. If your veterinarian sent home any pain medication, make sure to continue using it as directed. If you didn’t get any, make sure to get some tomorrow morning along with some antibiotics. You can use hydrogen peroxide or warm soapy water to gently dab on the area and then gently pat it dry. Apply some topical antibiotic ointment or cream such as Neodporin or Neosporin Plus which has topical lidocaine. Make sure the cone stays on as he will want to lick or bite at this. Try to get in to your vet first thing in the morning for a recheck.

It looks like the skin in this area has become infected. It could have started as a simple wound, like you said, and then progressively became infected. To help the area heal, keep the wound clean and dry. Wash it 2x a day with a gentle antibacterial soap. You can apply some triple antibiotic ointment to it as well. You will need to keep Boomer from licking the area as best as you can. The best way to do this is by placing an E-collar on him. If this does not help the area heal in 3-5 days or if the area around the wound is swollen at all, I would recommend taking Boomer to the vet to have it evaluated. It looks like there could be some inflammation at the site of the incision. That could be due to her body breaking down the sutures, or she caused some sort of trauma to the area. If she is acting normal and you don't feel any swelling around that area I would wait and see if it improves. But if there is swelling, drainage, or pain I would worry about a dehiscence (opening of the incision) which would be an emergency and she should see a vet immediately.

It looks like there is accumulation of fluid (the cranial swelling) and inflammation of the surgical site. the rest of the wound looks like it is healing. a check up and physical examination it is essential in her case to rule out any accumulation of fluid (which could be even pus).

Hello. This may need to be rechecked by the surgeon. There is some redness extending out on each side which can indicate that it is infected. I would expect it to look more healed after 8 days, so it is possible that there is some infection which is delaying the healing. I would recommend a recheck visit or possibly calling to let them know that it still seems painful . They may be able to look at your photos and determine if they want to see him or dispense any medication.

I wonder if the swelling was unrelated to the surgery and was actually a spider bite or something similar? If he is comfortable and it is not bleeding (just blood tinged fluid), then I think waiting to see your primary veterinarian would be appropriate. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.
