My dog has a non-bleeding popped lump. Does she need a vet?

This looks like it could be a cyst or a skin tumor like a hemangioma. I find that once a skin growth ruptures it tends to happen again, so I would definitely recommend making an appointment to see your veterinarian. They will probably recommend surgically removing this growth.

Hello, and thank you for your question. This looks like it could be a lump on the skin, or a focal area of infection on the skin. It may be bleeding now because Spud has been scratching at it. I would have it assessed by a vet within the next few days to pinpoint what it is. If a lump is found, they may recommend a fine needle aspirate to find out the nature of the lump. If it is a skin infection, medication can be prescribed to treat it. In the meantime, I would suggest putting an e-collar on Spud to prevent him from further chewing or licking at the lesion. If it is on the body (not the legs) you can try putting a t-shirt over him to again protect the area from further trauma. I hope this helps, and that Spud gets better soon!

If you are noticing an odor, it's might be infected. This bump could be an infected cyst, a foreign body trapped under the skin or a ruptured tumor. I recommend to protect the area from any licking (Nala may need to wear an elizabethan collar at all times) and have her examined by the veterinarian within the next 24 hours. I hope this helps.

It could be an infection, cyst, or possibly a hystiocytoma. The best thing would be to have a vet take a look at the lesion. Your vet can do a needle aspirate to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or it may need to be removed. Hope he feels better soon!

This looks like a possible mass that has a really good blood supply or even a blood blister. I would try applying a cold compress on it for 5-10 minutes, if a vet is not readily available. If you can get the bleeding to stop tonight I would leave it be for now and then get this checked in the morning by your vet if possible. However if you cannot get the bleeding to stop even after the cold compress and perhaps even placing a make-shift wrap around it, then an ER vet visit has to be considered to stabilize the area. However, an ER vet visit is usually only needed if it is gushing blood, for fear or too much blood loss. If it is oozing then it likely can wait until morning before seeking veterinary assistance. I would be concerned that this growth is an abscess, and the white stuff is pus. I would have Lola seen by a vet for this. The vet can diagnose if she does have an abscess, which will require draining and flushing, and then antibiotics to treat the infection.

It looks infected and is most likely an abscess. It is not an emergency but she should be seen in the next couple days. In the meantime you can just keep the wound clean with some mild soap and warm water, dry it and then you can put some Neosporin on it. Keep her out the water for now.
