Generally, a severe infection or toxin ingestion. If it's a puppy, then I would be most worried about parvovirus. Either way, it's an emergency and not something you would be able to deal with at home. It's best to get Tigger to a vet ASAP, because she can quickly lose a lot of blood and become dehydrated with this condition.
