My dog has pink itchy skin after plant contact. Will a bath help?

Oh my poor Minnu. Minnu has a pretty extensive skin allergy and unfortunately nothing over the counter is going to have a good chance at curing this. In fact allergies are often not cured, but instead they are managed with diet and medicaitons form the vet. Allergies in dogs are also not straight forward for every pet and take time to figure out what your pet has an allergy to. I would start with making sure she gets a good high quality flea preventative everything month to rule out any potential flea allergy. Then I would recommend considering doing a food trial for her for the next 2-3 months, to rule out a food allergy. My top picks are Royal Canin Ultamino or Royal Canin skin support. Then I would treat her skin infection with oral antibiotics prescribed by your vet, as well as treat for the itch with an allergy medication. Ask your vet about Cytopoint injections (if applicable) or Apoquel tablets to treat for her allergies. You can continue the baths if they are helpful as well. But Minnu needs a vet visit at this point to get started treating her allergies more effectively. However, if Shiloh's skin is flaky and itchy, it could be a number of things, including superficial pyoderma, demodicosis, sarcoptes, yeast dermatitis, and ringworm. It is difficult to narrow down the causes without doing an exam on her or at least seeing the lesions, but it is very likely some sort of infection (whether bacterial, yeast, or parasitic) so I do recommend bringing Shiloh to the vet. Your vet will be able to determine the cause, and Shiloh will likely need prescription medication (antibiotics, antifungals, or anti-parasite, along with possible medicated shampoo) to clear the issue. Depending on the severity of the issue on her skin, it very likely might not improve without prescription meds, so it is worth having her seen as soon as possible. Additionally, depending on her age, she may have some underlying condition that might be making her skin susceptible to infection, such as allergies or hypothyroidism. I hope this helps.

It does appear to an reaction. The best thing you can do is give her a cool bath to help alleviate some inflammation in her skin. You can try an over the counter antihistamine to help with the redness but it is unlikely to help with itching if it bothers her. If it continues to spread or you notice any swelling or she is scratching the places, then she will likely need to be seen for stronger medication such as steriods

This may be an allergic reaction to something he came in contact with outside. A bath in baby shampoo can be helpful to clean his skin and coat. If he starts itching you can try benadryl. If there sores continue or spread then he will need to be checked by your vet for prescription medicaiton

Yes, you can give Daisy a warm salt bath to see if that helps with the itching. You can also give her an oatmeal bath as that may also help. Make sure she is up to date on her flea treatments because fleas are a common cause of itching :-)
