My dog has pink bumps on spay incision 3 weeks later. Is it normal?

It looks like there could be some inflammation at the site of the incision. That could be due to her body breaking down the sutures, or she caused some sort of trauma to the area. If she is acting normal and you don't feel any swelling around that area I would wait and see if it improves. But if there is swelling, drainage, or pain I would worry about a dehiscence (opening of the incision) which would be an emergency and she should see a vet immediately.

The vet most likely used a suture material for the spay that takes a very long time to dissolve (like PDS) and she is having a reaction to that suture material that is still left there. I would not be worried about this unless it abscesses and opens. For now, just monitor it.

This appears to be healing just fine. I suspect this is a mild reaction to the stitches under the skin. This is very common. I would only be worried if it opens up and starts draining fluid, gets much larger or becomes very red. Just make sure she cannot lick it until it is completely healed.

Overall, Darla's incision certainly looks as though it has healed well. The suture material used under the skin can take several months to fully dissolve. In that time, some dogs may develop mild inflammatory responses. There is also a chance that Darla has developed a skin infection from other causes (most commonly underlying allergies). At this point, you can continue to monitor these bumps at home for changes. However, if they worsen or seem to cause irritation with licking or itching, Darla should go to her vet for further evaluation. If she is licking, keep an e-collar (cone) on Darla until you can take her to the vet to prevent further skin irritation. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

The picture is a bit grainy and discolored so it is difficult to say for sure what the problem is. However, with your description, what you are feeling are likely the knots of the suture at the top and bottom portion of the incision line. These knots can sometimes cause inflammation due to a slight suture reaction. If the incision is not open, then I would just monitor for now. If the incision is red, inflamed or there is pus present, then I would have Huggle rechecked by the veterinarian that did the procedure. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! If the bumps are indeed due to the suture and they do not worsen, you should see those disappear over the next few months hopefully. Complete absorption of the suture I use in my spay procedures takes about 3-4 months to occur. However, absorption time depends on the type of suture used.

Hello. I am sorry about your concerns about Judy, but everything still looks pretty good. The bump is probably a small seroma or suture reaction under the skin & this usually resolves on its own after about a week. So, just keep an eye on things. If there should be any leakage from the incision, or the lump continues to enlarge much more, it may be best to have your veterinarian take a look as soon as possible. But all looks OK for now. This is a pustule probably from a buried suture knot. The suture is absorbable but it takes several months to dissolve and sometimes the knot can cause irritation and a small infected pustule. I recommend taking Patti to your veterinarian and they can feel if there is suture left in the incision. It can be removed now that the incision is healed. Generally when the pustule is opened the knot is exposed and can be cut off and removed with suture scissors. Then the skin will be cleaned and it should heal up quickly once the knot is gone.
