Why did my dog get a pimple on his back right after a vet shot?

Try not to worry, but I would make Buttecup an appointment at the vet. The lesion could be an infection and they can treat it, or if it is a lump they can test it to see what it is. If you want to wait a while you could try salt bathing it then if it's not improving attend the vet.

That could be a very localized area of infection, usually related to an hair follicle. Alternatively could be due to a small skin cyst that got infected. Usually antibiotics are not needed for such a small spot of infection, so normal disinfection (betadine or hibiscrub solution) may be enough to solve the problem.

There is also the possibility of him having a condition called puppy strangles, which will cause spread of rather large pimples to his face, ears and neck area, and these pimples can then rupture causing discomfort for your pet. It is hard to say for sure which is likely here without a good visual of the area. I recommend considering reposting your question with a photo for a more tailored answer. If the pimples are small however, they are likely just an allergic reaction and may go away on their own, especially if there are just a few. I would monitor the area and if the pimple does not go away or more lesions pop up it would be a good idea to have Frankie checked out by your veterinarian.

The area in the picture looks like an area of what I would call excoriation or skin irritation usually seen when a dog scratches an area extensively due to itching. The yellowish area can be a pimple or what we call a pustule (a pimple containing pus). Pimples and pustules are usually raised lesions, extending up from the skin. It's a little difficult making out much detail in the picture. Sometimes damaged areas of skin turn yellowish like that and are usually flat in appearance, not raised up like a pimple/pustule. Hello I wouldn't recommend popping them as that could cause bacteria from the top of his skin to get into the deeper layers and cause further problems. Sometimes a medicated pet shampoo helps clear up this type of lesion. However if more of these spots appear Hero should see his veterinarian as it could indicate a widespread skin infection.
