Pheromone collar caused lumps on my dog's neck. What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Male | neutered | 11 months and 23 days old | 80 lbs

My 1-year old Doberman Pinscher has a cluster of lumps on his neck, front and center, under where his collar was. Found them this morning and they came up fast. He had been wearing a pheromone collar and his normal heavy collar. We removed them right away.

It could be that Tiberius (love his name!) is suffering from an allergic skin reaction to the pheromone collar, and these lumps are hives. Given how fast they came up, I would take him into a vet now. The vet can prescribe him an antihistamine or steroids to stop the reaction.
