My dog accidentally overate just once yesterday. She has vomited after drinking water and she drinks a lot of water when she is at the water bucket. Her stomach is swollen, but she is lying on it and stills seems comfortable. Her stomach is sensitive (I have to carry her down the stairs, because she is blind.) Should I be worried and how ling should I keep her from eating if there is no reason for concern? Kind regards, Vicky

If she has twisted her stomach, she would likely be very bloated and retching over and over again, and potentially having trouble breathing. This is an emergency if she is doing any of those things. If not, continue to monitor her. If she continues vomiting, seems lethargic, or starts to have constant diarrhea, I would take her to an emergency veterinarian. Occasional vomiting is pretty common and not necessarily an emergency if she is acting normally.
