What's this on my 6-month-old Maltese puppy's nose? Tick or growth?

That looks suspicious for a tick! Sometimes dermal lesions/skin tags can look like this. If you are not sure this is a tick, I recommend to have Jax examined today by the veterinarian. If it is a tick, it needs to be removed asap. Also, depending on disease prevalence, Jax may need to go on an antibiotic if tick borne disease is common in your area. Look at that cute nose! IT is really hard to tell by the picture if Mia has small pustules (skin infection) or if they are actual masses/bumps. The small pustules could be from a primary allergy. A contact allergy could cause irritation to the nose and lead to the pustules. IF they are growth I would recommend a vet complete a fine needle aspirate. This is when a vet places a small needle into the mass and looks at the cells under a microscope. This will allow the vet to determine what the growths are being caused by. I would recommend taking Mia to a vet due to her young age and having a hard time telling what is going on based on the pictures. Hope she feels better

While hard to say without seeing her in person, this does not have the appearance of a tick and looks more like a small skin growth. Ticks are usually dark in color, black/brown/maroon and once full of blood can have a pale grey appearance.

This is likely a benign skin mass and likely what we call a sebaceous adenoma. These are benign and develop in older animals. Of course it is impossible to say for sure just by looking at it. You would need to have this removed and sent for testing to confirm what it is. However, with the thousands of sebaceous adenomas I've seen, there is a really good chance that is what you are seeing. I typically remove these during another procedure such as a dental cleaning since the animal will already be under anesthesia. If there are no upcoming procedures that need to be done, then monitoring these is just fine. Removal of these when they break open or become infected is generally recommended or when they bother the animal.

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. You would need to have your dog physically examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. Removal is recommended if the lump grows larger or becomes ulcerated, but others may grow in the same spot or different areas. Keep it clean and dry and be careful not to irritate it during grooming/brushing or bathing.

Thank you for providing a picture of this area on Bosco! It could be that it's a skin tag, a type of benign tumor, and that's why it cannot be removed. It could also be a tick that is embedded, and I would not try to remove it again. It would be a good idea to have him seen by a vet for it, so it can be diagnosed and treated as needed.
