My 8-month-old Blue Heeler hasn't had first heat. Is she fertile?

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Cattle Dog | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 3 days old

I have a full blood blue heeler and she is 8 months in age. I know she should of had her first heat as early as 4 months or 6 months of age but she hasn't had it yet. I'm a little concerned if she is able to have a litter of puppies

Some pets can be a bit delayed with their first heat cycle. I wouldn’t be concerned about her not being able to have a litter just yet. Give her until she is about 10 months of age and if she hasn’t had a heat cycle by then, it wouldn’t hurt to get her examined by your vet to look into possible underlying causes, especially if you are certain she hasn’t already been spayed.

I'm wondering if you mean that Belle has an underbite. This can be common in breeds such as the Shih Tzu. As for not being in heat yet, she can go into heat anytime, so I would not worry about her being nine months and not having a heat yet. It can take up to a year of age before she goes into heat. Typically dogs do have a heat every six months, but it could be Cleo had a heat and it was a silent heat. Silent heats are when the dog shows no outward signs of being in heat. You can have her checked out by a vet to be safe. Best of luck.
