Neutered dog licking stomach, blister despite e-collar. Is it serious?

Poor pup! That area is very inflamed and may be infected. Keep the dogs separated and make sure your dog wears his elizabethan collar at all times. Get him seen by his veterinarian within the next 24 hours as he may need antibiotics. Make sure to keep him from any activity as well such as running or jumping. The skin looks perfectly healed. However it will take a few months before the internal stitches have dissolved. So I would still put en e-collar on Bell as long as he attempts to lick the incision.

Hello. This incision is still healing and you are seeing areas where the skin edges have not completely healed together. Even though it has been 2 weeks- this photo indicates that Tucker should still be wearing an E-collar or some other device that will prevent him from licking the area. It will heal but it will take longer and you are at risk of it getting infected or opening up more if he is continued to be allowed to lick the area. Get an elizabethan collar that is firm, plastic and extends past his nose. It must extend past his nose! This method should stop him from reaching the incision. It is very important to keep him from licking the incision because he could open it up or cause an infection. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! At least based on these pictures, this looks almost healed. It just has a small area that appears to be close to healing but not quite. While neosporin is ok, I think the main thing to make it completely heal is making sure that he is unable to get to it and chew or lick at it. Please make sure to use an e-collar to try to prevent this. If you are able to keep him from getting to his incision, I think you should be able to get it to heal. You can continue to use the neosporin as that may speed up the healing process. However, make sure to not pick at any scabs as that will usually delay healing. Good luck and have a good night!

Based on the pictures you have included, I am concerned that his incision is dehiscing. I would recommend that Ramone be evaluated by a veterinarian to see how his incision is doing, whether or not it needs to be repaired and if it is possibly starting to get infected. Good luck!
