My dog can't get up after grooming. How to treat her muscle fatigue?

It really depends on the cause of the muscle weakness. If it was related to illness, then it could gradually start to recover. If the muscle loss is due to another underlying conditioning or age, it may require additional treatment such as pain meds, joint meds etc, or even assistance with walking/doggy wheelchairs. Since it hasn't improved in several weeks, i would schedule a recheck with your veterinarian to see if there are any additional treatments needed.

However most muscle sprains tend to resolve on their own with light activity within 3 to 5 days. so leash walk Daisy only when she goes outside and don't encourage rough play jumping and running inside the house until she completely resolves. if there is no significant improvement within that timeframe then a more serious internal injury is likely the cause, so a visit to your vet at that time is recommended for further care. Hello. You did not indicate an age or breed for your pet. This information may be helpful. Grooming can exacerbate arthritis or other underlying painful conditions like a back problem. Even if there were no indications of a problem before, this may cause the symptoms to show up. Obviously this would be more likely in a middle aged to older animal. Make sure there are no obvious skin lesions which could be painful. It may be a good idea to have your vet examine her and determine if she is in fact painful and prescribe the appropriate antiinflammatory medication for a few days.

If it just started you can let him rest for a few days with minimal walking and minimal physical exercise, if it does not improve within 3-4 days you will have to take him to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, he might need pain killers for a few days. if the vet think it's something more serious such as a fracture, joint injury or foreign body, he might recommend to have an xray done as well.

The treatment would be complete rest and anti-inflammatory medications for 4 days - a week time. I would recommend a check up as signs are quite persistent. A soft tissue injury is the most likely reason for it.
