Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 8 years and 9 months old | 7 lbs

My dog, 7lb morkie, had a mammory tumor removed yesterday, on Wednesday, late this Thursday she developed a deep red mark under the incision. I’m wondering if this is normal or cause for concern. Please help thank you

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

Redness can develop around an incision a few days after surgery and be normal as long as there isn’t pain or discharge. If you can post a picture we can get a better idea.

I hope this helps!
