This actually depends on where you live and what exposure you and your veterinarian think Lexi will face in the future. Lyme disease is widespread and spreading more each year. Your veterinarian can actually show you the incidence of the Lyme disease in your immediate county or in areas where you might travel with Lexi. This decision can be made jointly with your veterinarian and based on what vaccine they use and recommend, it will have certain age requirements. Of course it's always best to start vaccines like this when they are puppies, but in Lexi's case you can start them now. She will need a series of 2 vaccines 3-4 weeks apart and she should be tested for exposure to the Lyme bacteria using an in house test that most vets run. Good luck with her. The other important point is to always use good flea and tick medicines to hopefully prevent flea/tick exposure and the resultant problems they cause.
