Why is there a firm, squishy lump on my dog's shoulder after a fight?

This could be a seroma from an injury, a cyst, abscess or a tumor. Cysts and abscesses need to be drained by a vet. I would keep an eye on this lump for now. As long as it doesn't get bigger over the days leading up to his appointment on the 28th, it doesn't appear to bother him, there are no behavioral or appetite changes during this time, and/or you don't see any redness, warmth to the touch, or pus from the lump, it's fine to wait until he has his vaccine appointment. This could be a site of a bite wound and, if so, could be an early abscess. It could also just be a cyst (harmless fluid-filled mass). If it continues to grow, has a discharge or seems painful at all Sam needs to get examined by her veterinarian. If it goes away or stays the same I would recommend mentioning it to her veterinarian at her next routine appointment.
