From the picture it actually looks more like a deep skin infection to me. This could be bacterial or fungal, or even a hypersensitivity reaction (less likely). Piper could have a resistant bacterial infection, chronic irritation leading to an infection/whiteheads or even a type of mite. Sometimes keeping the area clean and preventing any trauma such as rubbing or pawing at the area is helpful. Other times prescription strength medication is needed from your veterinarian.

While it's difficult to say for certain if it is a staph infection I agree that it looks bacterial, but a fungal infection could look very similar. Skin infections in this area can occur secondary to irritation so make sure you use a glass or stainless steel bowl and clean it frequently. Allergies would be another possibility. This looks fairly severe in your picture - I'd recommend seeing your vet in person to determine if oral antibiotics are needed.

this lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors (even though extremely unlikely given the young age). Hystiocytoma is one of the main differential (is a benign tumor which resolves by itself). Hi Maisie! If there is some pus coming out of it, this lump could be an abscess on Mika. It could also be due to a bacterial skin infection. I would have Mika seen by a vet tomorrow or first thing on Monday to have the lump examined and diagnosed. Once a diagnosis is found, the vet can discuss treatment with you.

The lesion on Luna's face may be a bacterial infection, a fungal infection known as ringworm or due to a skin mite known as Demodex. Luna will need to see a veterinarian for an exam and a skin scrape to determine the correct diagnosis. Treatment is very different for each condition and they can all look similar, so testing needs to be done to be sure.
