My dog limping after jumping off bed, but acting normal. Vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 8 lbs

Yesterday my dog jumped off my bed and I believe she might have landed on top of my shoes today when I got home I noticed that she was limping but my parents said that earlier that she was completely fine she hasn’t been crying she’s been running around and acting normal I’m just concerned that it’s bad and I should take her to a veterinarian tomorrow

Poor Zipper, just like people, there are many causes of limping. This link has great information:

I recommend strict rest for tonight, no walks, running, jumping, climbing on the cough or stairs. If she is still limping tomorrow, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps.

Hello. Without an exam there is no way to try & localize where the problem might be. The only way to help Otis is to try & rest him, but if feels well enough to continue his walks, I would at least try to prevent any running & jumping if possible. If he is still limping on Monday, have your veterinarian evaluate him & see if he does require any medications or treatments. Otherwise, just try to discourage any significant activity over the weekend & stick to a simple routine. thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
