My dog licked tea tree oil from my face, is it safe for her?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think it is fine to restart the face wash. As most face washes are rinsed after use I can't imagine much or if any tea tree oil remains on your face. I wouldn't let him lick your face immediately after using the wash to be safe. Maybe give it an hour. I wouldn't let him lick the concentrated tea tree oil for the pimples. And I would wash it off in the morning to be safe. I am sure if you accidentally forget and he licks your face he will be fine! I hope this helps and have a great weekend!

HI, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Honey! Tea tree oil is toxic at high concentrations. If you washed it off and she hasn't licked it and is acting fine she will be ok. Watch her for lethargy or neurologic signs. if she isn't showing symptoms there is nothing to do preventatively. I would try a triple antibiotic on the wound and an antihistamine. You are right that tea tree oil is toxic to dogs. You need to bathe Lucy immediately. Wash her thoroughly with dog shampoo or baby shampoo, wash it out, and bathe her again. As long as you get it all off of her before it has a chance to soaking into her skin, she should be fine. I hope this helps!

Direct contact or ingestion of the mask could lead to problems. As long as you keep this up high and away from Snickers it can be in the same room. I hope this helps! Tea tree oil is toxic to dogs and should never be used on them unless significantly diluted. Tremors are a sign of poisoning, and even though Lil bit seems ok now, I would still have her seen by a vet right away for a health check.

Usually only small quantities are ingested and are not harmful at all. Occasional diarrhoea and vomiting episodes may be noticed, but should be self limiting.
