What if my dog licked my spilled Remicade infusion? Is it safe?

In general, we do not want dogs to lick the ingredients in the topical flea products. Therefore, most products will contain a "bittering agent" which makes the liquid taste bad, so the dogs will not lick it. If they lick a small amount, they may drool a little due to the bad taste, but they will not lick enough to cause a problem. Sassy sounds like a sweetheart and a wonderful companion! Any oral/intravenous medications you are taking for MS are unlikely to pose as a risk to Sassy from her licking your skin. However many treatments for MS such as steroids can cause immunosuppression and put you at greater risk for zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted from dogs to humans such as intestinal parasites (roundworms, hookworms, whipworms), leptospirosis which can be transmitted through the urine of rodents and wildlife, tapeworms which can be transmitted by fleas. For these reasons it is recommended to keep her on monthly heartworm/roundworm prevention such as Heartgard, monthly flea/tick prevention such as Simparica, have her up to date on all vaccines including lepto, and to bring her into the veterinarian quickly if she ever has diarrhea as giardia is a zoonotic disease (transmissible to humans) that can cause diarrhea. Establishing a good rapport with your veterinarian with regular (every 6 months) check ups would be beneficial for your health as well as hers. She is adorable! Best wishes!

You are correct in thinking so. She would need to ingest much more in order to be at risk of serious toxicity. At worst, you may see some mild stomach upset if anything at all. A short fast followed by a bland diet for a few days should resolve minor upset.

Hello there! The ingredients in the phytovet CK wipes are very safe and are also in diluted concentrations. The amount that actually is applied to the skin is also very small as compared to if she was to ingest the liquid form. If it's just a single time ingestion or even if it happens again randomly I wouldn't be worried. I do not expect Ella to get sick at all. However, the application you just did isn't likely to be effective as she probably licked it all off. I usually tell people if you can have a contact time of at least 3-5 minutes with no licking then enough has absorbed to be effective and they wouldn't be ingesting much at all. When I use it on my own dog I just sit with her for a few minutes and play/distract her to keep her from licking. It usually dries pretty fast. I wouldn't worry. I think Ella will be just fine. Usually only small quantities are ingested and are not harmful at all. Occasional diarrhoea and vomiting episodes may be noticed, but should be self limiting. I wouldn't worry too much. Bleach residue would at-most cause irritation to her skin or mucous membranes. As long as she's not in a heavily bleached room, the fumes would not be enough to cause any problems. Once bleach dries, it is rather safe and I would not worry about having her in the parts of the house where the bleach was. Large dog kennels at places like shelters and veterinary clinics are routinely cleaned with bleach without incident. I would only be worried if she drank bleach.
