My dog is lethargic, licking, coughing, and itching. Does she have worms?

Poor Derby! It sounds like she may be suffering from some allergies or even an upper respiratory infection. You could try benadryl first. See link below for more information on dosing. If she isn't improving or worsens, I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will first listen to her heart and lungs and check her temperature. If she doesn't have a fever and no fluid on her lungs, they may decide to try some antibiotics first to see how she does. If she has a fever, not eating, or has fluids on her lungs they may recommend some blood work and maybe some x-rays to ensure she doesn't have a pneumonia or something more serious. Cost varies greatly depending on the area of the US you live in. I would call the vet you plan to use and ask for the price of an exam. This is why you are not able to wash her coat clean. The cause of her itching needs to be identified and controlled. Then she will stop licking allowing the skin to heal. She could have an allergy to something in her environment, diet or even to fleas. Anal gland issues can cause irritation in the same area. She will need to see her veterinarian to determine the best course of treatment. The cough can be addressed at the same visit. Allergies can be caused by many factors including skin parasites, food, plants and other environmental factors, often it is difficult to impossible to find out the cause of the allergy. treatment with antibiotics and allergy meds at the vet's should cost about 80$-130$ depending on the medications used.

If the reason is fleas indeed the consultation should cost you between 35-50$, the flea products should cost you about 50$ for 3 months. by the way it looks, i would not be surprised if your dog had mange rather than fleas.

Hi and thanks for posting. Coughing can have a variety of causes- respiratory infections, allergies, bronchitis among others. Licking a leg may indicate an allergy or can be a sign of pain. I would recommend Blu see his veterinarian soon for an exam and further evaluation. Your vet may recommend x-rays to get a better look at his lungs and legs. He may need antibiotics, pain medication, or other medications depending on what the vet's diagnosis is. I hope this helps!
