Why is my dog losing leg hair with black dots on his skin?

These small black dots and missing hair could be caused by external parasites, such as fleas and mites, allergies, or illness. Itchy ears could be cause by ear mites or an ear infection. The only way to know for certain what is causing these issues in Lilly is to take her into your vet for a health check. I'd recommend taking her in to see your vet to get an exact diagnosis and correct treatment.

It's possible your pet is experiencing symptoms of a bacterial infection due to mange mite infestation. You'll want to be sure to visit your local Veterinarian as soon as possible and request a skin scraping examination. This will allow your doctor to identify the underlying cause of your pets discomfort. You're doctor may prescribe an antibiotic to help stop the infection and mite/mange treatment if needed.

I would recommend that you have Cooper examined by a vet. Areas of hair loss like this can be caused by demodex mites. Other possible causes include bacterial or fungal infection or other parasites. The vet will likely do a skin scraping to look for the mites under a microscope. Then they can get Cooper started on an appropriate treatment plan.

It is normal for some dogs to have less fur on their underside, but it sounds like it has been getting worse which is not normal. It is also not normal for there to be round spots on the skin. Demodex normally just causes hair loss, but it can also cause a secondary bacterial infection. Unfortunately, it is often impossible to determine what is going by just looking at the skin, but there are some simple skin tests that can be performed to evaluate for demodex, other mites, or secondary infections (bacterial, yeast or fungal) by looking at a sample under the microscope. I would recommend having Dakota evaluated by your veterinarian to determine what is going on and how to treat it. The first picture of the brown legs looks very suspicious of possibly mites to me, especially if he is itchy. The other 2 pictures looks ok like they might just be an elbow callous and I am less worried about that. Regardless, I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. I am assuming that this is a dog? The areas of hair loss on the skin could be caused my a multitude of problems, but most common would be something called demodex. Demodex is a mite that is present mostly in very young dogs or dogs with immune suppression from other conditions. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. From the photos here it looks like these are patches of hair loss. We can have hair loss at points of pressure if a dog likes to lay on hard surfaces, but we also worry about things like ringworm (a fungal infection), skin mites, and bacterial infection causing patches of hair loss. I would recommend bringing your dog in to the vet to examine the area. They may recommend a fungal culture if ringworm is suspected or a cytology of the skin to check for bacteria or a skin scrape to check for mites.
