My dog is in labor, stillborn puppy. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

My Pug is in labor. Her first puppy was stillborn about an hour ago. Do I need to get her to a vet immediately or should her contractions continue to deliver the remainder of the puppies?

I’d keep an eye on Tessa for now. If more than four hours pass between puppies or she pushes for longer than 30 minutes with no sign of puppies, take her into a vet immediately. I’m sorry about the stillborn puppy.
