My dog had one puppy, got shot, still no labor. What's next?

Hello. After 5 hours, it is time to see your veterinarian for an x-ray or ultrasound to see if & how many puppies remain in her. You vet may elect to just watch for another 24 hours, especially if Angel seems content with her newborn, & there are no distressed fetal heartbeats. Otherwise, it might be time to intervene, first with trying Oxytocin to initiate uterine contractions , or take her immediately to surgery. Hello. You should really consider having Sweety evaluated by your veterinarian to make sure there are no more puppies inside. If there are, your veterinarian should ultrasound them to see if they are showing any signs of fetal distress. This will determine if an emergency C-section is necessary, We can see a bitch take up to 24 hours to deliver, but with such a small litter, & one non-viable pup, I would want to make sure all is well with Sweety. I typically recommend heading to the vet if it has been more than four hours between puppies. While it can be perfectly normal to take long breaks in between puppies it’s best to have a vet check for signs of fetal distress if it has been more than four hours, especially since one puppy was already still born. If there are more puppies and no progression of labor at this point then she needs to be seen by a vet. They have medication to give her to stimulate further contractions to continue the process. They can also X-ray her to see how many are there or do a c section if needed Since she didn’t take care of the precious puppies it is best to not let her have any puppies and bottle raise them yourself then get her spayed

I am very worried about Bebe. If she hasn't had any puppies for 6 hours, but still has puppies inside, I would definitely recommend to take her to a veterinarian. Sometimes a puppy can be stuck in the birth canal or the mom gets so tired from pushing that her uterus is no longer able to contract to push the puppies out. Both of these situations are dangerous for the puppies and Bebe. The veterinarian will examine her to see if there is a puppy stuck in the birth canal and will most likely recommend taking and x-ray to see how many puppies she still has inside. Depending on what they find, they may recommend doing a c-section. In most cases, this is the only way to try and save the mother and the puppies. I am so sorry. I know this is a very scary situation.

I would recommend getting her to a vet as soon as possible. If she delivered puppies dead on friday morning and now it is saturday evening this is to long. I would recommend getting her to a vet now for an x-ray to count the number of puppies still remaining. An ultrasound to make sure they are still alive and not in stress and even bloodwork to make sure she does not need calcium supplementation to help with pushing. The vet can either give her oxytocin to help with contractions or might recommend a c-section. I hope that ronda roo is okay and you get some healthy puppies.

If it has been 2 days since the last puppy was born and you think there are more, she needs to see a Vet immediately to confirm that. She likely needs a C-section to get the remaining puppy(ies) out.
