My dog is extremely itchy and rolling around, but has no fleas. Why?

Oh my poor Minnu. Minnu has a pretty extensive skin allergy and unfortunately nothing over the counter is going to have a good chance at curing this. In fact allergies are often not cured, but instead they are managed with diet and medicaitons form the vet. Allergies in dogs are also not straight forward for every pet and take time to figure out what your pet has an allergy to. I would start with making sure she gets a good high quality flea preventative everything month to rule out any potential flea allergy. Then I would recommend considering doing a food trial for her for the next 2-3 months, to rule out a food allergy. My top picks are Royal Canin Ultamino or Royal Canin skin support. Then I would treat her skin infection with oral antibiotics prescribed by your vet, as well as treat for the itch with an allergy medication. Ask your vet about Cytopoint injections (if applicable) or Apoquel tablets to treat for her allergies. You can continue the baths if they are helpful as well. But Minnu needs a vet visit at this point to get started treating her allergies more effectively. Fleas live in the environment, not on the dog. They just on the dog to feed, and jump off when done. If you haven't disinfected your home, that may be why Sunnie is still itching and you are starting to itch. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. If this doesn't help, then I'd be concerned it could be something else contagious going on like mange or ringworm. Then I would take him back into the vet, and have you see your doctor. You would be very unlucky to have all three dogs with skin allergy!! If you (or your vet) already ruled out fleas, mites and skin infection can be responsible for this presentation. A check up for one would be enough probably for all of them and some basic skin tests (skin scrapes for example) can rule out these differentials. Poor Minnie! Red and irritated skin could be a result of allergies, trauma (scratches from a bush, burns, etc.), ringworm, or mange. I'm glad to hear that you'll be taking Minnie to her vet. If she is overly itchy, you can put an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent further licking and irritation of the skin. While it is not likely associated with her skin condition, Minnie may be urinating in the house due to a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, behavioral issues, or urinary incontinence. The hair loss pattern is suggestive of flea dermatitis, so I'm wondering if you've seen fleas any time recently before giving flea medication.
