My dog has an itchy rash for 2 weeks. What's wrong? What can I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 70 lbs

Just wondering what to give my dog and what's wrong with him? He has had this rash for about two weeks now, and he is very itchy. I have gave him baby benedril and I have been putting antibiotic cream on the soars. Just want to know if there's anything else I can do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I cannot give a dose for Benadryl because I have not seen Doobie but I don't think you are giving him enough and often enough to help. If he has a rash, Benadryl may not be strong enough and he may also have a secondary infection and need antibiotics. I recommend taking him to a vet to see his skin and get antibiotics and possible steroids for the inflammation. Good luck and kisses to Doobie!
