What home remedies can I use for my dog's itchy neck fold?

You should try soothing oatmeal shampoo (can be by TropiClean or Burt's Bees - both available online and at pet shops) - it will give Flip some relief. Once your vet is fully open, please take Flip for an appointment as he may need a prescription-only shampoo or anti-allergic tablets.

For relief of the itching / discomfort, you can use a product called Sentry Hydrocortisone spray which can be found at Petco. I also like using Pramosoothe spray, which can be found online. These products can be applied 2-3 times per day to help with the relief. I would try and find out why Rocco is so prone to the allergies though to help with the overall problem rather than masking the symptoms of the problem. If this is a year round issue, he may have a disease called Atopic Dermatitis, which can be treated but can be difficult and expensive to manage. I would also recommend Welactin Omega 3 fish oil capsules. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. This is called facial fold dermatitis and is very common in dogs with wrinkly faces. It is likely due to underlying allergy and yes Benedryl is safe to give. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl I do not recommend putting anything over the counter in the folds. However, I do recommend gently wiping out the crease with a baby wipe once or twice daily. Even more importantly is getting air to the folds. After you wipe, blow in the fold or hold it open to the air for 30 seconds to make sure it’s completely dry. If those measure are not improving things in a week- or if there is worsening in any way- it’s time to see he vet for some prescription strength help (medicated wipes +\- stronger allergy medication). The best thing you can do for this is give a bath with cool water using an oatmeal or aloe shampoo. You can get these shampoos at the pet store. Thoroughly flush the skin with cool water for at-least 15 minutes before applying the shampoo. After the bath, Rookie's bumps should be gone within 24 hours. If not, then you can give another bath on the following day. If a week goes by and the bumps are still there, then it's best to take him to the vet for treatment. If you haven't yet had him seen by a vet, ideally I would recommend that you have him evaluated. He may have a secondary bacterial infection that needs to be cleared up with antibiotics, and he may benefit from prescription medications such as Apoquel which can make a big difference for these guys!
