Why is my dog hunched and limping after rough play and a bath?

I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian as soon as possible, as an inability to move her legs can be a sign of a serious underlying issue. There are a variety of causes for what you are seeing, such as an infection (Lyme disease), neurological or orthopedic issue, among others. As some of these may be time sensitive, I would recommend she be evaluated as soon as possible to see what may be going on, and any treatment she may need. Good luck!

I am sorry Pretty is not feeling well. My biggest concern would be that Pretty possibly injured her ACL or meniscus in her knee. I would recommend limiting her exercise and keeping her calm. However if she is not feeling well I would take her to a vet for a good physical exam and possible x-ray. Dogs can break a bone, tear ligaments, and have soft tissue injury which can cause limping. I hope Pretty feels better soon

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ivy. If she walks with her paw up (ie not using it), this indicates that she is still painful. It worries me that she is still displaying this behavior (even if it is improved) several weeks after the incident. I recommend that she shees her veterinarian. She may need some anti-inflammatory pain medication to eliminate residual inflammation from a muscle strain. She also may need x-rays to ensure that there is not a bone or joint problem. In the meantime, keep her as quiet as possible to allow her body to rest. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

We often see torn ACLs in large breed dogs with limping in the hind limbs. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. It's unlikely that the bath burned him if it was a temperature that a human was comfortable with. However, he could have pulled something in a leg or his neck. Since it's been going on for 2 days at this point, I'd recommend a general check up to try to determine what is going on.

This sounds like her has arthritis or a bulging disc in his back. I recommend leash walking only, no jumping and you should take him in for an exam and X-rays. He could benefit from pain medication and depending on the reason treatment with acupuncture or by a rehabilitation veterinarian could help prevent this happening in the future. She may have sprained a muscle in her back during her shaking episode. Monitor her for the next 24 hrs with strict limited activity and if she is still not getting better then a vet visit is best to have her back examined.
