My dog hates daycare. Can I leave her home alone for 8-9 hours?

It really depends on the age of the dog. If it is an adult dog than he can probably be home 6-8 hours alone without needing someone to take him out. If it is a puppy, than he would probably need someone to let him out to go to the bathroom during the day. It also depends on the dog's temperment as some dogs need more attention and exercise than others.

Thanks for using coach! Lady will need access to go potty throughout the day. If she has access to potty pads that will be sufficient. She also needs lots of freshwater. Because of her size she really needs to be fed 3 to 4 times a day so her blood sugar doesn’t get too low. I would see if you can find someone to come and feed her several times a day. Also, that many hours alone she will probably be pretty bored and may end up being distructive to her surroundings. This means she may eat her poop, chew up her blankets and pee pads, or cry for hours. I would set up a dog walker or find a friend that can help pet sit to break up her alone time. I think a reasonable goal is 5-6 hours if you do not need to leave her for a full work day. This would allow you to be out of the house for a good amount of time knowing that she is comfortable. As far as her dog run, water is a necessity. Anything else left in the run should be tested before you leave her for hours. Some puppies are good with toys, beds or blankets, while others will destroy and eat these items. If she eats one of these items, it would become a surgery to remove it. If he has extreme separation anxiety I would discuss medications (anti-anxiety) with your vet and private training. If he likes other dogs consider doggie daycare twice a week so he can expend energy. Max is a high energy breed. On your days off and free time be sure to exercise him well. If he plateaus at a certain length of time I would seek help and meds form your Vet. I hope this help!

As long as the temperature is normal inside and she has access to fresh water dogs can typically stay in a crate anywhere from 6 to 8 hours. Some dogs may be able to go longer, some dog shorter depending on their urinary bladder capacity. I usually don't recommend anything longer than eight hours in a crate at a time.

You should be able to go to work and leave Elly alone with no problems. As long as she is confined to a small area and is unable to lick / chew at the incision, she should be fine. I hope this helps!
