Why is my dog hiding and biting after PetSmart visit & shot?

Dog's don't bite on accident. He bit because he was uncomfortable with the situation and sounds like he's still on high alert after the incident. I'd recommend giving him lots of space and lots of love from afar by way of tossing him special treats. Rocky may need to be separated from your other dog for a while if he can't stand you being around him. It's possible he's in some pain if one of the nails was cut too close, or that he's still upset from the fear of the nail cutting. If he doesn't calm down in a few days, I'd recommend another vet visit to discuss medications to help him calm. Wishing you the best of luck in this tricky situation.

For this purpose, a vet visit should be the first step. The vet can perform a full physical exam to check for any areas of pain, and may recommend further testing such as x-rays or blood work to pinpoint a diagnosis. Appropriate medication can be dispensed if a diagnosis is found. If the behaviour is not due to a medical issue, then I would focus on finding out the source of his anxiety, and subsequently work on training. If the blood is coming from Skyler it would be best to close the kennel door and use that to transport him to an emergency vet clinic ASAP without having to handle him and risk being bit. The vet can safely sedate Skyler and examine him for injuries or illness and provide treatment for him.

Has this just started recently, or has it always been a problem? Etc. Without knowing more, I can tell you in general that it's always a good idea to check for medical issues that could be contributing to aggressive behavior. So yes, a vet visit would likely be a good place to start.

Billion and his little friend are so cute and I bet they are best of friends. It sounds like he is not feeling good and these cues are his way of telling you this, especially the hiding. I wish we could know if our furry friends are depressed but more often these symptoms are linked to some sort of physical ailment and this is their way of conveying it to us. As he is biting his rear end this could be a sign that something is itchy (do you see any fleas as this is a common area for fleas to be?) or painful for him (like his rear end (anal sac issues are sometimes a concern in younger dogs) or his back). As I can see that you are concerned about your little guy I would recommend he be seen by your family vet for an exam. I would suggest making an appointment with your vet to talk about possibilities. They might be able to link you up with a behaviorist, or dog trainer that could help a lot. There also could be medications that might help. Or, like you said, there could be a medical problem that is upsetting him.
