Why is my dog suddenly hesitant to jump on the bed or sofa and cries?

If she does not appear to be in pain and does not have a limp, it would be ok to monitor for now. If she appears painful at any point, I recommend that you check in with your veterinarian. If Maggie is not showing any signs from gastrointestinal tract, like vomiting or diarrhea, blockage will be a very unlikely explanation of her discomfort. If she has difficulties to jump, or if she is refusing to jump at all, I would suspect that she has spinal pain (which may look very similar to abdominal pain) or pain in the hind legs (hips, knees). If she continues to be uncomfortable and not herself, I would recommend to see your local vets to find out what is going on and give her the right treatment. At the moment, I don't think there are any remedies that you can treat her at home with.

First of all, Luna is adorable! I'm sorry to hear that she seems a bit uncomfortable today. Since the focus of her crying and whining seems to center around jumping on or off of the bed, my main concern would be that she developed a back or neck injury. In some cases, dogs can be quite stoic with these injuries until they move or are handled in certain manners. Back injuries can also cause referred pain in the abdomen, which could explain why she pants (this can be a sign of pain) when you pick her up. It can be difficult to precisely determine if back or neck pain are present without a lot of training, and it is often overlooked at home. Since she is intermittently crying and panting, it sounds as though Luna may be relatively painful. I recommend taking her to the vet for an exam to try to determine the source of this pain so that treatment can be started. Until you can get to the vet, keep her restricted to a crate or small room and avoid allowing her to jump on or off of furniture or use the stairs, as this could exacerbate any underlying injury. That tells me Brownie is in pain. I recommend resting her for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a leash, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

Ammu definitely sounds like she might be in pain on some part of her body. While you might not be able to appreciate any pain on palpation of her legs and hips at home, a more well-trained set of hands might be able to isolate a small area that could be injured. Even if you have not seen a traumatic event occur, it is still quite possible that a young Beagle could have somehow caused herself an injury while romping around. Other causes of difficultly rising or getting around could be a systemic infection, neurologic problem, or inflammatory condition. Any of these would require a diagnostic work up by a veterinarian to determine what therapies should be instituted.

This can be caused by arthritis - pretty much any joint can be affected as well as the spine. Your vet can perform a thorough orthopedic exam and x-rays to isolate the signs to a particular part of the body. Certain conditions such as Lyme disease and autoimmune disease also cause generalized joint pain and can be ruled out with bloodwork. It sounds like your dog has a problem with her back as that is a common sign of back pain. Dogs are usually reluctant to jump because it causes pain. Your vet can check her for back pain and then prescribe medications to help. She may need an anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxer, and/or pain medications to help. Also, it would be a good idea to restrict her activity for a few weeks, no running, jumping, etc. Hope she feels better soon!
