What heart tests does my dog need? Does less walking shorten his life?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old

What are the test available to check out dogs heart condition? Also my question is if I don't take him on walk on regular basis and instead I take him like once in 2 or 3 days can that kinda walk have any impact on his life span ? If I take him on walk less can then his life span can decrease ?

It depends on the type of heart condition, as there are many. Tests to evaluate heart disease can include x-rays, ultrasound, or electrocardiogram to check his heart rhythm and electrical activity. Depending on the condition it may be beneficial to avoid strenuous exercise. I'd recommend discussing it with your veterinarian.
