My dog has been hacking like a cat trying to cough up a fur ball. This has been going on for a couple of days but just last night she was hacking almost nonstop. She hasn’t thrown up but it sounds like she’s going to. She seems to be eating fine, I’m just wondering if the hacking is serious and if I need to bring her into the vet.

Poor Princess! There are quite a few things that can cause hacking or coughing in dogs, so it's important to get a diagnosis first in order to know how to treat the problem. She could have a respiratory infection, bronchitis, allergies, collapsing trachea, or heart disease to name a few common possibilities. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam when you are able to - he/she can listen to her heart and lungs and may also suggest some additional testing if needed to determine what's wrong and get her started on appropriate treatment.
